For parents with adopted and foster kids, the struggle is quite different from the parents of biological children. Adopted or foster children often exhibit problematic behaviour. It appears as a new challenge. This is the context of this course. Loving them is not enough: What every parent should do, is a course designed by Crystal Krueger.

The course is ideal for parents with adopted or foster kids. Kids with past experiences of trauma may develop an adaptive behavioural pattern. The behaviour is often protective in nature and does appear provocative and intentional at times.

The ‘Loving them is not enough: What every parent should do’ course tries to explain to parents the unusual actions from their kids. Genetic engineering has come a long way. Now, we know how the brain of kids with traumatic experiences work. You, as a parent, will gain the understanding of the function of the problematic behaviours from the kids.

What you’ll learn

This is a course designed specifically for the care of children who have experienced adversity and trauma.

Who is this Course for?

Apart from the parents with foster or adopted kids, mental health workers, teachers, people from child-protective agencies, representatives from the clergy community can take the course to help the troubled kids.

Requirements

This is a discussion of the elements of trauma informed care and supporting materials on the nature of how trauma/adversity can impact life and health throughout the lifespan.

Career Path

You will be able to bring significant changes to the lives of foster and adopted kids. Having insights into scientific research on the field, you will be able to address the issues of the kid logically and in a productive manner.

As a social worker or teacher, you will know how to talk to the kids and react to their behaviour. You will be able to guide the parents towards a successful and healthy relationship with their kids.
