Why should we study this course?

Health and safety management should be a straightforward part of managing your business as a whole. It involves practical steps that protect people from harm and at the same time protect the future success of your business.

There are legal health and safety requirements that you have to meet, but accidents also cost money and time – people off work, material costs and damage to buildings, plant or product. These costs are often not covered by insurance.

This course explains what the law requires and helps you put it into practice.  

What are the main causes of ill health and accidents at work?

Every year over 200 people are killed at work, and several hundred thousand more are injured and suffer ill health.

The biggest causes of days off work sick are aches and pains such as back problems and stress.

The most common causes of serious accidental injury at work are slips and trips.

The most common causes of death from accidents are falls from a height and being struck by vehicles in the workplace.

What are Health and Safety

Health and Safety are organized efforts and procedures for identifying workplace hazards and reducing accidents and exposure to harmful situations and substances. It also includes training of personnel in accident prevention, accident response, emergency preparedness, and use of protective clothing and equipment.
